Hello ILLINI Fans!
Now that we have all returned to campus from summer break, had a chance to settle in, and have our first week of classes, practice and workouts under our belt, I'm thrilled to say the Illinois women's golf team could not be more excited for the season!
We have a much smaller team this year in comparison to last, as we graduated five seniors who will most definitely be missed. The team may be smaller in numbers, but step into a room with us, or rather on to the golf course, and you would never know. The excited and passionate spirits of all seven of us can be felt more strongly than ever! Players returning include seniors Kaitlyn Wampler and Crystal Smith, junior Ember Schuldt, and sophomores Jackie Calamaro, Michelle Mayer, and Pim Thirati. We are also extremely happy to welcome Samantha Postillion, a Chicago native that transferred to Illinois this year!
Everyone experienced their share of successes this summer, but around here the focus is on this season and getting better everyday. We have established our team core values, which include passion, pride, focus, common goal, and respect as well as our team mission statement: We are passionate; we work hard, we win. This is the Illini way and we are looking forward to carrying it out this year! We have about one more week of practice before we kick off the season with our first tournament, the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo. If you are in the area we hope to see out in your orange and blue, if not be sure to follow our progress on Golfstat or FightingIllini.com!
We want to thank you so much for the continued support and we look forward to showing you an exciting season! We take great pride in our school and team!
