After a day off on Sunday to allow players to move into their campus housing, the Illini returned to action on the grass fields to the east of Memorial Stadium for a practice in shoulder pads and shorts. Illinois continued to install its schemes and began to prepare for its season-opening opponent, Western Michigan.
Illini Street Fest Returns
The big news out of the Illini athletic department on Monday was the announcement of the return of Illini Street Fest leading up to Illinois' seven home games this fall. Each Street Fest will begin 2 1/2 hours prior to the game with the Illini Walk marking the start of the day's festivities. A live band will play at the corner of First Street and Irwin Drive, with Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets kicking off the Sept. 1 season-opener.
