Canadian hurdler Nikkita Holder advanced to the semifinals of the 100m hurdles with time of 12.93 in round 1. She had the 13th-best time of the 24 athletes to qualify for the semifinals, which take place on Aug. 7, along with the final.

Recent Illini graduate Andrew Riley (2009-12) will cap off an incredible 2012 season by representing his home country of Jamaica at the Olympics. Riley finished second in a loaded field at the Jamaican Trials with a career best time of 13.19 to earn his trip to London. In June, Riley became the first male NCAA athlete ever to win both the 100m dash and 110m hurdles NCAA titles in the same year. He finished his Illinois career as a four-time NCAA champion, 12-time All-American and 12-time Big Ten Champion.

USA, Men's Basketball
Deron Williams averaged 8.4 points and 5.6 assists per game as Team USA rolled through group play with a perfect 5-0 record. Williams had a double-double of 13 points and 11 assists in the United States' record-setting 156-73 win over Nigeria on Aug. 2. Team USA will face Australia in the fourth and final quarterfinal on Aug. 8.

Canada, Women's Soccer
Zurrer's second Olympics were cut short by a hamstring injury. A starter on Canada's 2008 Olympic team in Beijing, Zurrer has not played in London due to a hamstring injury. Canada went 1-1-1 in Group F and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they defeated Great Britain 2-0 and then fell to the United States in the semifinals 4-3 in overtime in is thrilling match. Archibald helped Great Britain to its first ever Olympic win, 90-58 over China on Aug. 6, with eight points and nine rebounds. Archibald, who is retiring after 10 years of professional basketball after the Olympics, averaged 2.6 points and 4.0 rebounds during Great Britain's five games, playing solid minutes as a defensive specialist. The host country went 1-4 in group play and did not advance to the medal round.
