July 2012 Archives

With the 2012 football season approaching, thousands of Illini fans came out in full force last weekend at several Illinois and Big Ten events in Chicago. The weekend kicked-off with the Big Ten Media Days and Kickoff Luncheon on Thursday and Friday before Friday night's Illini Summer Bash at Joe's Bar. On Saturday morning, the Illini dominated the first-ever Big Ten Network Big 10K road race at Soldier Field and then hundreds of Illini fans packed John Barleycorn and Wrigley Field for the always popular Illini Day at Wrigley. Check out highlights from each event below.

After two whirlwind days of interviews and appearances, the 2012 Big Ten Media Days and Kickoff Luncheon are now in the books. I was extremely impressed with how the three Illini student-athletes in attendance - DE Michael Buchanan, C Graham Pocic and QB Nathan Scheelhaase - represented themselves, the University of Illinois and the Big Ten Conference.

The two days that signal the unofficial end of summer for many of us - Big Ten media days and kickoff luncheon - started Thursday at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place and Convention Center in Chicago. The entire first day is centered around press conferences, interviews and photo shoots, with Friday holding a few more interviews, an autograph hour for fans and the Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon.

Big Ten Football Media Days are upon us, which means the 2012 season is right around the corner. It seems like just yesterday the Illini were celebrating with the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl trophy in San Francisco. Now here we are in the Windy City with summer already a distant memory (at least that how it feels for an SID).
