Illini in the NFL - Divisional Round

Diehl.jpgA pair of former Illini on the New York Giants advanced to the NFC Conference Championship following a victory over the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers during the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Offensive lineman David Diehl and punter Steve Weatherford will play the San Francisco 49ers with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m. CT on FOX.

David Diehl, OT, New York Giants - Started at left tackle for the Giants, who totaled 420 yards of offense in a 37-20 win over the Packers. Diehl was part of a Giants offensive line that only allowed one sack on quarterback Eli Manning.

Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants - Punted twice for an average of 48.0 yards in a 37-20 win over the Packers.

Neil Rackers, PK, Houston Texans - Connected on field goals from 40 and 33 yards out along with an extra point in a 20-13 loss to the Ravens.

Martez Wilson, LB, New Orleans Saints - Recorded 1.5 sacks, including this one for a 9-yard loss, and forced this fumble in a 36-32 loss to the 49ers.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Was knocked out of the 36-32 loss to the 49ers after taking a hit to the head in the first quarter. Thomas caught a pass from Drew Brees on the Saints' opening drive and absorbed a vicious blow from Donte Whitner just short of the goal line.

Nate Bussey, LB, New Orleans Saints - Did not play in a 36-32 loss to the 49ers.
