Hey Illini fans!

It's hard to believe how much time has passed since we began preseason training in August, but I speak for the whole team by saying we couldn't be more excited for the fast approaching competitions coming up in the next few weeks! With Thanksgiving break right around the corner, all of us girls are ready to take a few days off at home to rest up for the routines that lie ahead. Everyone has been training so hard during practice and fighting for spots in line-ups, and our sets are really starting to come together! With a few injuries having unfortunately occurred a couple weeks back, everyone has stepped up their game and brought a new level of energy into the gym!

In fact, the coaches surprised us with a mini intra-squad at the beginning of the month, and it was a great opportunity to see how much progress we had made since the start of the year. We posted some strong routines, especially on vault and beam, and were able to set newer and higher goals.

The surprise intra-squad came just in time because right before we all part for the holiday, we had a full on intra-squad over the weekend that showcased our improvements! The team had been gearing up for the past few weeks, and we were all so excited to get back into the competitive atmosphere!

Aside from gym, school has finally slowed down a bit, and we are all happy to be relieved of projects and exams until finals roll around in mid-December. The dorms have also closed for break, and us apartment-dwellers are SO excited to be moving in the underclassmen to live with us for a few days! We have tons of fun relaxing and watching movies - this year, juniors Elise Gill and Alina Weinstein even had the idea of having a team gingerbread house contest! All in all, there is a lot of fun to be had during this time in our year! We are looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner at Mazza's house and hope everyone enjoys the holiday as much as we do! Stay tuned to hear about our final preparations for season, and I hope you all enjoy this time with friends and family!
