Alina Weinstein talks about the games the team took in over the weekend
and gives on update on how practice is going in the gym.
Hey Illini Fans!!
There has been so much going on this week. We hosted recruits and we had a great time hanging out together and showing them what our Illini family is all about. We had a really exciting practice for them and it's always really fun when the guys have recruits in the gym also because the energy from both teams is so thrilling. After practice on Friday, we all went to cheer on the girls soccer team as they fought for a win against Minnesota. Sitting outside gave us the first real taste of the cold weather and we all cuddled together trying to stay warm. We also took the recruits to the football game which was a sad loss because we were hoping to continue the undefeated streak. However, it was really intense watching the girl's volleyball team bring it back for the win in the fifth set and continue on as #1 in the nation. Way to go girls!! All in all, it was a very big weekend in the world of Illini sports and I was happy that our recruits got to be apart of it.
In the gym, things are starting to pick up. We have been working really hard in preseason and we are just now putting together sequences and half routines. This is getting to be around the time when we are surprised with intrasquads and team assignments, which I look forward to because its nice to see that competitive drive and give us a taste of what season will bring. Looking ahead, we're all looking forward to a weekend off of practice with our unofficial gymnastics fall break. It's crazy how already time has flown since we started school but means that season is that much closer!
