    Illini in the NFL - Week 3

    alanball.jpgEach week the Illini in the NFL Update will provide coverage on how former Fighting Illini football players fared during the previous weekend. Neil Rackers was a perfect 4-of-4 on field goals, Martez Wilson made his first career start for the Saints, and Alan Ball had four tackles in a Monday Night victory.     Neil Rackers, PK, Houston Texans - Connected on four field goals, which went from 22, 27 (twice) and 36 yards and made him 9 of 9 for the season, along with adding three extra points in a 40-33 loss to the Saints.

    Alan Ball, CB, Dallas Cowboys - Recorded four solo tackles, including one for a loss, in an 18-16 win over the Redskins.

    Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers - Rushed for 37 yards on the ground and caught three passes for nine yards in a 23-20 win over the Colts.

    Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Notched 28 yards on the ground and had one catch for 15 yards in a 40-33 win over the Texans.

    Brandon Lloyd, WR, Denver Broncos - Turned in four catches for 38 yards in a 17-14 loss to the Titans.

    Arrelious Benn, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Caught three passes for 19 yards in a 16-13 win over the Falcons.

    Michael Hoomanawanui, TE, St. Louis Rams - Had one catch for 10 yards in a 37-7 loss to the Ravens.

    Martez Wilson, LB, New Orleans Saints - Made his first career start, tallying two tackles in a 40-33 win over the Texans.

    David Diehl, OT, New York Giants - Started at right guard for the Giants, who posted 334 yards of total offense in a 29-16 win over the Eagles.

    Jon Asamoah, OG, Kansas City Chiefs - Started at right guard in a 20-17 loss to the Chargers.

    Brandon Moore, OG, New York Jets - Started at guard for the Jets, who had 439 yards of total offense in a 34-24 loss to the Raiders.

    Steve Weatherford, P, New York Giants - Punted four times, averaging 41 yards, in a 29-16 win over the Eagles.

    Josh Brent, DT, Dallas Cowboys - Played in the 18-16 win over the Redskins, but did not record any statistics.

    Brit Miller, FB, St. Louis Rams - Played in the 37-7 loss to the Ravens, but did not record any statistics.

    Vontae Davis, CB, Miami Dolphins - Did not play in a 17-16 loss to the Browns due to a hamstring injury.

    Corey Liuget, DL, San Diego Chargers - Was inactive for the 20-17 win over the Chiefs due to an ankle injury.

    Kelvin Hayden, CB, Atlanta Falcons - Was inactive for the 16-13 loss to the Buccaneers due to a hamstring injury.

    Tony Pashos, OG, Cleveland Browns - Was inactive for a 17-16 win over the Dolphins due to a foot injury.

    Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets - Out for the season after suffering a torn right Achilles in the 34-24 loss to the Raiders.
