Week Two in Rantoul Opens with Afternoon Practice

The Illini altered the schedule on Monday as a result of Saturday's scrimmage being halted by severe weather, dropping from two practices to a single session in the afternoon. The offense continued to post eye-catching plays, with Darius Millines and Spencer Harris both making highlight-reel catches and the entire stable of running backs putting together nice runs. Not to be outdone, the defensive front seven showed good contain and the defensive backs came up with a number of broken-up passes.

After practice, creative specialist (and former receiver/holder) Frank Lenti Jr. pulled aside all the freshman on the defensive side of the ball to film the annual "Freshman Shout-outs" from Rantoul, which should appear on the Training Camp website in the next day or two. We'll catch the freshman on offense tomorrow.

Monday Interviews: Coach Zook | Coach Gilmore | WR Darius Millines

If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to watch Episode 3 of the Camp Rantoul series, which Lenti also produces. There's some great philosophical reasoning behind whether guys walk up the hill or the stairs on the way to and from the building that houses the meeting rooms (don't worry, it's much funnier on film), and an inside look at Surf and Turf night, featuring an unsung hero of one of the team's favorite meals. There also are some extended highlights from the scrimmage, so give it a look.

Tuesday is another afternoon practice from 3:30-6 at Camp Rantoul, so come check out the 2011 Illini.
