    Rantoul Scrimmage, Take 2

With Saturday's annual Rantoul High School scrimmage cut short after just 15 minutes due to thunderstorms, the Illini took to the familiar fields of Camp Rantoul on Sunday afternoon to finish it off. The team was on the field for over two hours simulating full drives, goal line situations, coming out (from deep in own territory), red zone, third downs and two-minute drills.

Both defenses shined early in Sunday's scrimmage with Jack Ramsey picking off a Nathan Scheelhaase pass and a number of linebackers making big stops.  But the No. 1 offense got going on its second drive behind the 1-2 punch of Jason Ford and Donovonn Young.  Darius Millines came up with a key third-down catch, Ford carried it near the goal line and Young punched it in for the day's first score.

In the goal-line section, the first team offense and defense squared off against each other. The first offense only needed one play to score, but the second team defense stonewalled the second offense on the next drive, resulting in a missed field goal.

The first units also squared off in a red-zone situation and the offense eventually won out when Ford dove in from a yard out.  On the next drive, the No. 2 defense held the No. 2 offense, forcing a field goal.  The No. 1 offense put together another drive that ended with a Ford touchdown.  Then the No. 3 units got an opportunity and Reilly O'Toole connected with Tim Lukas for a first-play touchdown on a fade pass into the left corner of the end zone.

In the third-down situations, Troy Pollard broke a long run and Miles Osei scrambled for a first down when his protection broke down.  Later with the third teams on the field, O'Toole hit Jordan Frysinger on a post route for a long touchdown.  The team then worked in some two-minute situations before calling it a day.
