Off to Rantoul

The Illini had the day off from practice today, but still had plenty going on. As of 5 p.m. this evening, everyone on the training camp roster is checked into the Quarters Inn and Suites in Rantoul. But before heading to Camp Rantoul, the team went through the media rounds at Memorial Stadium.

It started at noon with the team photo, which is no easy task. Getting 105 players and 40+ staff members lined up for a photo is no easy task, especially in 90 degree heat. Today it was smooth sailing, which is a credit to the players, coaches, the SID staff and longtime DIA photographer Mark Jones and his staff.

After that came class photos, position group photos and three other individual photo stations, followed by media interviews and then local TV one-on-one interviews.

Then it was off to Rantoul, where the team will hold their fourth training camp practice on Monday at the former Chanute Air Force Base from 3:30-6 pm. Reminder that all practices through the end of Camp Rantoul on Aug. 20 are open to the public. It's a great chance to see the Illini up close.

One more thing...if you missed the Illini basketball alumni game on Saturday, you missed a great show. Here's a full recap with box scores, highlights, photos and post-game interviews, including this:
