Academic Services defines a tutor as an individual who has demonstrated mastery of a particular course or course and assists in the learning development of one or more students.

Tutorial services are a privilege and should be considered an academic commitment to the course along with the following:

• Attending all classes
• Forming a study group
• Forming a study group
• Meeting regularly with the course instructor
• Investing quality time in work outside of class
• Completing assignments on time
• Seeking out support if needed

Tutor Availability

Student-athletes can request tutorial assistance in writing by completing a blue request form available from their athletic academic counselor or from the tutor office located in Room 2 (basement) of the Irwin Academic Services Center.

Once your tutor has been assigned, you will be contacted by the tutor office. It is then your responsibility to contact your assigned tutor. Meeting times for requested tutors depend on your schedule and your assigned tutors' schedule. If there are problems getting in contact with your assigned tutor, please contact the tutor office at 217/244-5365.

Unexcused absences for a scheduled tutoring session will result in a $10.00 fine for each occurrence. After three unexcused absences, tutoring privileges will be canceled for the semester. Coaches may impose additional consequences.

Drop-in Tutoring

Some tutors are available in the evening at both the Stadium and the Irwin Academic Services Center. The following is a schedule of when and where certain tutors are available. Drop-in tutoring needs are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
